Description Bibliostar 2012: rendez-vous in Milan, 15th-16th March Bibliostar is the exhibition of services, technologies and equipment for libraries which takes place in March every year in Milan at Palazzo delle Stelline at the same time as the convention organized by Biblioteche oggi. It is  carried out in cooperation with authoritative institutional and professional partners who have, from the beginning, been a guarantee of a high level of expertise and a continual high level of participation by librarians and operators in the sector. The seventeenth edition of Bibliostar will provide an opportunity to meet up, as every year, but also to experience forms of participation and cooperation with librarians and firms different from those of last year. It is not by chance that a leading role in this edition will be played by the newly-formed Associazione Biblioteche oggi. The 2012 convention will thus present itself to businesses and librarians through a different and more modern format, resulting from the need to adapt to situations in constant evolution and to the growing and heterogeneous requirements for information and training in the world of Italian libraries. It will have as its theme I nuovi alfabeti della biblioteca (The new alphabets of the library) and plans to analyse the cultural models and highly advanced service strategies which libraries are called upon to contend with and which derive from the spread of new languages favoured by the development of communication technologies and social transformation. The two working days will be rich and intense, with an important scientific convention at the centre and numerous parallel sessions, some managed by commercial partners and others by other associations present at the event for years and by institutional partners who have enabled Bibliostar to qualify itself as a major meeting point with widespread participation. As every year, the exhibitors from the 2011 edition (which attracted over 110 Italian and international companies and over 2,000 librarians) will be able to exercise their right of first option for a stand of the same size as last year by 28 October 2011 at the latest. In addition, all those who confirm their participation, through payment of the agreed deposit, will benefit from a discount of 5% on the stand. Numerous sponsorship formulas have been studied for the 2012 edition to enhance the value and effectiveness of investment by firms.
